Jan Hruska

Jan Hruska

Dr. Jan Hruska graduated in Engineering and Computer Science from Downing College, Cambridge. He has a doctorate in Medical Engineering from Magdalen College, Oxford.

He co-founded Sophos Plc in 1985 and was the joint CEO of the Company until December 2005. He is a member of Sophos's Board as a non-executive director.

Sophos now employs more than 1600 people worldwide and is a world leader in IT security and control solutions purpose-built for business, education, government organisations and service providers. Over 100 million users in more then 150 countries are protected from viruses, spyware, adware, Trojans, intrusion, spam, policy abuse and uncontrolled network access. Sophos has won many awards, including (twice) the Company of the Year at the Real Business/CBI Growing Business Awards, 3i Company of the Year etc.

He is the author of The PC Security Guide, (with K. Jackson), Elsevier, 1988, Computer Viruses and Anti-Virus Warfare, Ellis Horwood, 1990, 1992, Computer Security Reference Book (with K. Jackson and D. Parker), Butterworth-Heinemann, 1992 and Data Security Solutions (with K. Jackson), Blackwell Scientific Publications, 1990.

His extra-curricular interests are sub-aqua diving, running, flying, skiing and piano playing.
